Darcy Perry

Darcy Perry is renowned for his live shows, performing with passion & intensity and a ferocious band that includes Norway's finest blues piano player Simen Taylor and New Zealand harmonica master Craig Bracken. In the early 90's Perry became part of the New Zealand blues scene as bass player for Manawatu bluesman Tura 'Bullfrog' Rata. A decade later he released his debut album as a guitarist, Blues 4 Dad, dedicated to his father Ross Perry. The rave reviews that followed its independent release saw the formation of the Darcy Perry Band. The subsequent albums struck like wildfire too; Don't Hold Back, Heavey Rain and Too Many Hard Miles have garnered righteous acclaim from critics and roots music fans alike.

Formed in 2007, Auckland 4 piece HANGMAN create an energetic and original mix of Rock, Funk, Reggae and Hip Hop. Paul Ubana-Jones

Born in London to a Yorkshire mother and a Nigerian father, Paul Ubana-Jones was playing guitar by the age of 11, beginning a three decade career that would see him crossing continents and recording seven albums of mostly original songs. After graduating from a London music college, where he studied guitar and cello, Paul began to forge the solo acoustic style that he has stuck to and developed over the years. In the late seventies, Paul based himself in Provence, Southern France, and toured all over Europe and North Africa, as well as venturing extensively into Canada and the US. In the late eighties Paul and his family moved to New Zealand, which is still their permanent home. He has continued to perform internationally, to growing acclaim. Concert performances include opening for the likes of Bob Dylan, Patti Smith, Taj Mahal, Keb Mo', Tuck and Patti, and Crowded House. Festival appearances include Dublin Blues Festival, and Blues at Bridgetown, as well as festivals across Canada and elsewhere. Paul continues to perform regularly in New Zealand and is well known to Wellington audiences.

Nick Granville is a Wellington based professional guitar player, arranger, musical director and in demand guitar teacher. Some of the great musicians Nick has worked with include:

Jon Stevens (INXS, Noise Works), Diesel, Chris DeBurgh, Dame Kiri TeKanawa, Delta Goodrem, Lil' John Roberts (Janet Jackson), Hayley Westernra, Will Martin, Elizabeth Marvelley, Jay Lagai'a, Frankie Stevens, Jackie Clark, Tim Beveridge, Russ Garcia, The Lady Killers, Yulia, The Rodger Fox band, The Vaughn Roberts big band, the NZ Symphony Orchestra and the Wellington Orchestra to name but a few. Nick has done many high profile sessions including the Dancing with the Stars band, the Breakfast show theme, Karaoke High TV show and many film sound tracks and album sessions. he has worked on many theatre shows including, The NZ Symphony Orchestra Christmas show, Jesus Christ Superstar, Grease, Rock Legends, Andrew Lloyd Webbers 'Phantasmic' and many others. He can be seen regularly performing with the groups - CGI trio, The Nick Granville group, Nouveau Manouche and as a freelance musician. Nick teaches jazz guitar at the NZ school of music and teaches privately.

Native to Wellington, Reuben Bradley has travelled the world extensively. Drumming with international jazz performers such as: Mike Nock (Aus), Bernie McGann (Aus), Kristin Berardi (Aus), Brenda Earle (Canada), Carl Dewhurst (Aus) as well as local Jazz artists: Roger Fox, Roger Manins, Charmaine Ford, Jonathan Crayford and Dixon Nacey. This has developed his creativity and passion for new music and has empowered him with the versatility of a first call session musician.

Reuben has played drums on many, many New Zealand Jazz cd releases including: Roger Manins ‘Trio’ 2010, Charmaine Ford ‘Busy Silence’ (Tui winner 2007) Kevin Clarke ‘Zahara’ 2007 & The Velox Brothers ‘Dogsville Swing Sessions’ 2008.

Most recently Reuben has released his own album of original Jazz Music ‘Resonator’ on the Rattle Jazz Label. This album begins by embracing the ‘classic 60’s’ Jazz sound, modal Improvisations, hemiola rhythm & raw swingin’ energy delve into an eclectic mix of percussion, vocals, synthesizers, samplers, studio techniques, angular time signatures and contemporary rhythmic structures.

Reuben has been a long time user of Paiste Cymbals, making it official as a new endorsee of their vast range of cymbals, sounds & gongs.
